POC to warm up world cup atmosphere

The 4th event of project of “Pieces of Culture” (POC) took place on Sunday

June, 27th. With the theme of football which is discussing everywhere, the event made audience excited by bringing world cup atmosphere to the participants. Guests from Italy, Brazil and America also got involved in showing Vietnamese youth the way people around the world are enjoying World Cup.

It was a really “football” afternoon when people gathered in a cozy hall to talk about World Cup. The Italian guest of the 4th POC had a brief but interesting presentation about Italian football which attracted participants so much. Responding to Italian guest, other guests made short, funny speech about their own countries’ football. That was the reason why the show from the beginning had been “fierce”.

The most remarkable part of the 4th show must have been Q&A (question and answer). It was conspicuous to find that the part took the 4th show out of gloomy air of the shows which were held earlier. The part was a friendly talk between the foreigners and Vietnamese students. Brazilian guest shared with the students that Brazilian, as usual, would put their job aside in order to watch football matches, if Brazilian team played those matches. It was an interesting story about Brazil not only for audiences but also for Geoffrey, the American guests of the show. He told Hanoikids that he could know more about another country, which was so great.

The guests and the audience were treated to a short movie telling a story of how World Cup changed daily life of a family. Three generations of the family were a lot affected by the World Cup. The father went home sooner than he used to, the mother and the daughter spent hours on arguing with the father about football teams. The character who was given much attention was the grandmother. She seemed to squander everything about football, but she actually was the one being crazy about it. She did football gamble and lost all her property. With senses blown out of proportion, everyone laughed “out loud”. A debatable topic “Is football gamble right or wrong” was raised after the movie.

As soon as the debate ended, a poster designing competition began.

Audience was divided into 4 groups and was asked to design a poster for the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. The Brazilian guest was the judge of the game and he was too impressed with creative posters of 4 groups to decide which team would be winner.

In the rhythm of “the cup of life” everyone together danced and sang, which tightened friendship between international friends and Vietnamese youth. See you again at the next show of “Pieces of Culture” with a view to discover another aspect of life.
